Scrapbooking Kits for the Beginner

ScrapbooksGetting started scrapbooking is often a lot easier for a beginner if they use a scrapbooking kit. These kits provide the basics for new scrappers and help them understand how to complete a page of an album using a theme that can be carried throughout the entire album.

A scrapbooking kit helps the decision making process so that a beginner can get started right away without worrying about their artistic capabilities. These materials make it easier for the crafter to learn how to do scrapbooking effectively and see the many possibilities for designs, themes and concepts. This should encourage them to start coming up with their own personal and innovative designs once they learn the process.

Scrapbooking kits are also great for people who love the activity, but don't want to spend a lot of time on the creative end of things. Having a premade combination of everything needed makes it much easier to mount your photos and memorabilias into layouts so you don't have to worry about the design. This means you can get right down to business enjoying the fun of scrapbooking without it taking up long hours of your time.

However, since the materials in most scrapbooking kits are limited to the basics, this will also limit your creativity. Experimenting is less possible since everything is already layed out.

Of course, you don't have to use all the items provided in the kit or that you're limited to what comes with the kit. However, with the items provided by the kit, most people would tend to just use what's arlready there since everything fits together, rather than use their imagination to extend these ideas and designs even further.

Scrapbooking kits are useful and work well for general themes such as birthdays, weddings, babys and various family themes. If you're more interested in creating a wide variety of themes, a kit isn't going to be much help since they're mainly useful as a training device to get beginners started. Once a person has learned enough about how to do scrapbooking properly, chances are they won't want their creativity limited by using a kit.

If you hope to take your scrapbooking kits to new heights, try adding your own touches or use them for later projects.

Here are some of the basic that should be included in your scrapbooking kit:

• A scrapbook or album
• Papers (could be plain or patterned with a common theme)
• Die cuts
• Punchers
• Cardstocks
• Stickers
• Ink and rubber stamp
• Scissors
• Stencils
• Photos
• Ruler
• Markers, pens and pencils
• Envelopes
• Adhesives
• Embellishments

You can add other items to help you be more creative.

Before heading out to the scrapbooking shop, make a list of everything you're going to need for your next project. Planning ahead will save you time and make the entire project go a lot smoother.
